II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)Midlothian Council has a requirement to appoint a design team on two new projects which are being undertaken.
The projects are for the construction of two new Primary Schools.
The construction of the schools will be put out to tender separately in late summer 2014.
The projects comprise the procurement of design and other necessary professional services for the new Primary Schools that are to be constructed within Midlothian.
The construction cost of each project is currently estimated as follows.
Gorebridge - GBP8.83m;
Bilston - GBP6.44m;
The Council intends to appoint a Lead Consultant to cover the entire required design consultancy services.
The Lead Consultant will have responsibility for the appointment, management and performance of all sub-consultants.
The Lead Consultant will be required to provide continuous client liaison from the inception of the project until overall completion.
It is expected that the tenders for the construction stage will be advertised in late August 2014 with construction estimated to start in May 2015.
