Portsmouth City Council - the ‘Council’ - has awarded a contract to provide a minimum of 85 Family Group Conferences (FGC) a year for service users identified by the Council. An FGC is a meeting that brings together friends and extended family in a situation where there is a problem in a family, usually involving a child and helps them to create their own plan to prevent the need for long term local authority care and to promote the right of the child to remain within their own family (if it is safe to do so) and negate the need for accommodation. Additionally, 20 specialist adoption FGCs will be required in the first year only, for a minimum total of 105 in year 1 and a minimum of 85 in each subsequent year.
The contract commenced on 1.4.2014 and will run for an initial term of 3 years but is extendable, in increments to be agreed, to a total maximum duration of 5 years, subject to performance and agreement of both parties.
The value of the contract is approximately £95,000 in the first year and approximately 80 000 GBP per annum thereafter making a total maximum contract value of 415 000 GBP if the extension options are taken up in full.
