II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)Lead Consultant for the Design Team services for the Brooklands Aircraft Factory and Race Track Revival Project at Brooklands Museum - located in the heart of what was one of the largest aircraft design and manufacturing sites in Europe in the twentieth century and the home of the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit. The total project cost is approximately GBP7million. It has been awarded a round 1 pass by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This project comprises disassembling the 1,675m2 Grade II Listed Bellman Hangar structure, conserving and repairing it, moving it to a new location and rebuilding the entire structure. In addition, a new building of approx 1,100m2 will be constructed as The Flight Shed, which will also contain aircraft and exhibitions. Iconic historic aircraft, covering the period from the early pioneer days of aviation through to supersonic flight, will be re-displayed, together with new interpretation. The relocation of the Hangar will allow the Race Track Finishing Straight to return it to its original appearance and function, opening up views and reinstating the opportunity for driving experiences and activities involving both cars and aircraft.
The LCDT will provide the following services:
- Civil and structural engineering design and supervision,
- Specialist conservation services,
- Mechanical and electrical engineering design and supervision,
- Architectural design and supervision,
- Landscape design and supervision,
- CDM.
The LCDT can supply services from its own in-house capabilities or from external sub-consultant sources provided these are approved by the Museum and are managed by the LCDT as if they were its own staff.

The completed PQQ must be returned by 16 August 2013 - do not return a full tender at this point. The PQQ will be used to shortlist between 5 and 8 companies who will be sent the Invitation to Tender documents and Brief and invited to submit a full proposal. A site visit will be arranged for shortlisted companies. Interviews may be held for the shortlisted companies with higher scoring proposals.
