LLW Repository Ltd (LLWR) is a UK nuclear waste management company that provides services to UK customers to treat and dispose of low level radioactive waste. On behalf of the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, we manage the national Low Level Waste Repository in West Cumbria and oversee a national Low Level Waste programme to ensure that lower activity radioactive waste is managed effectively across the UK.
LLWR's customers include nuclear decommissioning and power companies, defence sites, the healthcare sector, research establishments and other industries within the UK. Our waste services help customers manage their lower activity radioactive waste efficiently to reduce disposal volumes and preserve capacity at the Low Level Waste Repository. Customers can access a wide range of treatment and disposal services to ensure waste is managed safely and effectively. More information about LLWR can be found via our website: www.llwrsite.com
Subject to the relevant sanction and validation activities, LLWR intends to procure a 4 year multi-supplier framework agreement for the provision of a range of Waste Treatment Services to LLWR on behalf of our customers, covering the following scope:
- Metallic Waste Treatment Services, to treat and reduce the volume of low level radioactive waste arising from customer sites prior to disposal, by separating contamination from clean metal via a range of techniques, such as shot-blasting or melting;
- Combustible Waste Treatment Services, to treat and reduce the volume of low level radioactive waste arising from customer sites prior to disposal through the use of thermal treatment techniques, such as incineration;
- Supercompactable Waste Treatment Services, to treat and reduce the final volume of low level waste arising from customer sites prior to disposal using high force compaction techniques;
- Alternative Treatment Solutions, to provide for the research, development and opening up of innovative new treatment routes for potential orphan and problematic radioactive wastes;
- Waste Treatment Professional Services, to provide programme and project management capability together with relevant nuclear waste management expertise for change initiatives, enhancement opportunities and/or major service delivery projects across LLWR's business to meet customer requirements.
The above service scopes will be split into a number of lots.
Suppliers interested in being part of this framework agreement are invited to attend an Industry Day on Tuesday 12.3.2013 at The Rheged Centre, Penrith, Cumbria, UK. LLWR will present initial proposals for the service scope, the structure of the framework and the contract terms for discussion and input from potential suppliers. The Industry Day aims to offer the supply chain an opportunity to comment on our proposals before the Invitation to Tender is issued in May/June 2013. LLWR would welcome interest from Small to Medium Enterprises who may wish to work with other suppliers to provide services to LLWR. The Industry Day will provide networking opportunities with both LLWR and potential suppliers.
