II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:There are circa 112 Southern Water operational locations with works required to security systems/physical security. The scope varies at each site but may include works to intruder alarm, security camera and entry control systems (and associated ducting, electrical services and telecommunications), doors and windows, fencing, borehole covers, entrance gates and external lighting. A principal contractor or contractors is/are to be appointed to carry out all of the above works. In addition to the above trades, the scope will include project management (inc Health & Safety, Construction, Design and Management regulations, environmental and planning issues), design development and the selection, management and co-ordination of all specialist contractors and suppliers necessary to complete the works. Sites will be released to the appointed principal contractor or contractors for construction in batches in a phased manner to achieve the overall 31.12.2014 completion date.
Note that a variant bid will only be considered if a compliant bid has first been submitted by the economic operator.

Economic operators are required to be familiar with working in the water sector and to be aware of water supply hygiene factors, processes and procedures. Also experience of working on multi-site upgrade or maintenance programmes within the utilities sector would be considered advantageous.
