The UK Atomic Energy Authority is a non departmental government body carrying out research into the potential of nuclear fusion as a future source of energy.
The Authority operates the JET and MAST fusion experiments with the aim of magnetically confining and studying the behaviour of a plasma in conditions and dimensions approaching those required in a fusion reactor.
The Authority has an ongoing requirement for components both machined and fabricated in Inconel 600, 625 and 718 and is interested in contact with companies with good quality assurance control for carrying out machining and / or fabrication in these materials. In the majority of cases, orders will be placed with components to be machined from material to be provided by the supplier. A well prepared documentation package is required with the finished items.This will contain, as a minimum, Inspection reports, material certificates and, when applicable, weld and welder qualifications to the Authority's standards.
This PIN has been published to enable market research to be undertaken to assess the available capability in the marketplace for the requirements. The Authority will conduct a dialogue with the marketplace and procurements will be subject to competitive tender exercises.
This is a voluntary PIN for requirements below the threshold for the application of the regulations for services and supply contracts. Accordinly there will not be OJEU Contract Notices for the requirements.
