NS&I; background: NS&I; (National Savings and Investments) is a government department and Executive Agency of the Chancellor of the Exchequer. It is one of the UK’s largest retail savings and investments organisations with invested assets of circa £100 billion from around 27 000 000 customers. NS&I;’s role is to help reduce the cost to the taxpayer of UK Government borrowing. This is achieved by offering a portfolio of secure retail financial savings and investments products to UK customers, providing a cost effective means of contributing towards the national debt compared with raising funds on the wholesale market. Further background information on NS&I; can be found at www.nsandi.com NS&I;’s operational services, including all processing of customer interactions and servicing (sales, after sales and repayments) and IT management aspects of our business were outsourced in 1999 to Siemens IT Solutions and Services (SIS). This contract ends on 31.3.2014. SIS employs about 1,750 staff delivering the operational services to NS&I; of whom about 400 operate from a subcontracted site in Chennai, India. As a government agency, NS&I; is not regulated by the FSA, but NS&I; aims to comply with its principles, in so far as they are relevant and appropriate to NS&I;’s business. NS&I; is also regulated by a range of specific acts and regulations unique to the Agency. The purpose of this PIN to inform the market that a procurement exercise for NS&I;’s operational services is planned to start in Q4 2011; to alert the market to the forthcoming Industry Day on 11.7.2011. Industry Day the Industry Day will take place on Monday 11.7.2011, from 10:00 - 13:00 (10:15 start) and will be held in Kensington, London. At the Industry Day NS&I; will provide information on its latest thoughts on the scope of requirements, sourcing model, packaging approach and procurement timescales.
