Refurbishment work. The project is to refurbish the existing single living accommodation building. Currently each of the paired rooms share a bathroom and the existing 84 shared bathrooms will be re-modelled to form 168 individual shower rooms and kitchenettes. The bedrooms will also be refurbished. The mechanical services works includes adapting the existing domestic water services, below ground and above ground drainage systems to suit the new layouts and the provision of new decentralised ventilation systems, together with adaptations to the existing LTHW heating system to serve the proposed new air handling plant and the installation of new towel rails. In addition to the refurbishment of the living accommodation, the communal laundry ventilation system will be replaced. Communal kitchen areas will also be refurbished and redecorated to provide a more functional and useable space Externally, there will be limited window replacement and works to the pitched roof will include the checking, repair and cleaning of the gutters and down pipes as required. The external walkways, staircases and landings will have the exposed concrete soffits and floor surfaces cleaned. External doors will be replaced / refurbished.
