II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s): National Grid is looking to work collaboratively with a number of partners to deliver part of its wire conductor and cabling programme for the next years. It is therefore seeking expressions of interest from manufacturers of cables, joints and accessories as well as wire and conductor and associated accessories for its Electricity business, in the UK and in the US. In addition to the supply of cables, the Applicant will also have the opportunity to offer design, jointing and installation services, where applicable (see Annex B for more information).
Cables: the framwork shall cover cables fo various ratings, lengths, voltages and accessories. The required voltages range from 1kV to 400kV and include XLPE, Oil filled, control and street light cable, Cables shall be delivered to UK and US sites.
Conductors: In addition, the framework shall cover wire and conductor of various ratings, lengths, voltages and accessories. The required wire and conductor voltages range from 1kV to 115kV. Wire and conductor shall be delivered to US sites only.

III.1.3)Legal form to be taken by the group of economic operators to whom the contract is to be awarded: Applicants may submit bids as (i) a single company or group, (ii) consortium, or (iii) a prime contractor with prequalified subcontractors. Succesful applicants must in due course agree an appropriate contracting structure or legal format in order to enter into a contract with National Grid.
In relation to consortium bids or a bid from a prime contract or with subcontractors, National Grid will require the consortium lead to provide the information requested in relation to their financial standing. Any member of the consortium (or the main subcontractors) may provide responses to demonstrate their ability to undertake the works required, so long as it is relevant to the works that such subcontractor or consortium member intend ot undertake if the applicant is appointed to the framework.
Any further instructions regarding the information required from consortium members and subcontractors will be clearly detailed within the pre-qualification questionnaire.

VI.3)Additional information: Applicants interested in receiving more information about this Contract Notice shall do the following:
1. Send an 'expression of interest' to before Monday 14th November 5pm GMT, with a simple email requesting documentation. The subject of the e-mail should be "EXPRESSION OF INTEREST", and the body of the e-mail should contain full contact details.
2. Once we have received the expression of interest, we'll set up the applicant's company on Ariba (with the company details provided) and issue a link that will allow the applicant to access the Ariba platform
3. The applicant can then access the Ariba website and download the Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) and appendices
4. Before Monday 21st November 2011 at 12.00, the applicant shall upload his PQQ completed together with supporting documents onto the Ariba platform.
Post receipt and assessment of the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire applicants shall be shortlisted and an Invitation to Tender shall be sent to shortlisted suppliers. Further details of this process shall be included in the Pre-Qualification Tender.
We encourage any interested Applicant to request the documentation as soon as possible in order to allow enough time for completion of Pre Qualification Questionnaire.
All indications of spend provided in this notice are indicative only and may change according to the needs of the business.
National Grid reserves the right to change without notice the procedure for awarding the contract, to reject all or any bids for the contract, to terminate the process and not to award a contract at any time without any liability on its part. No contract will be created between National Grid and any party until a contract is executed between National Grid and the successful providers.
Tenders and all supporting documentation for the contract must be in English and must be priced in sterling.
