The Parliamentary audio and video archive provides a unique record of the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament and of a wide selection of committee meetings. The archive is the only complete collection and is now of a substantial size with over 85 000 items on differing formats.
The bulk of the TV collection is held on tapes of the Beta family, and does not form part of the scope of this tender. There are also 35 000 ¼- inch magnetic tapes from the early radio broadcasts and almost 3 000 U-Matic tapes from the original Lords television experiment.
Lot 1 - Storage of Magnetic Tapes. Approx. 40 000 GBP per annum.
The Authority requires a Contractor to store and manage the audio collection, in a secure, climate controlled facility. The supplier should provide a service that allows for material to be recalled and accessed by users.
The contract shall be for an initial 3 years with options to extend to a maximum of 5 years.
Lot 2 - Digitisation of the U-Matic Tapes. Estimated 70 000 GBP over a maximum 3 year program.
The Authority requires a Contractor to develop a digitisation plan, as well as storing the collection in a secure, climate controlled facility.
The contract period will be agreed in line with costs; the maximum contract period will be 3 years.
This is a voluntary advert for a Part B service.
