Norfolk County Council has awarded a contract for a catering service at Grays Fair Court, 266 Dereham Road, New Costessey, Norwich. NR5 0SN. The Service will prepare and provide meals and refreshments for 20 people who receive respite care 365 days per year at Grays Fair Court.
The respite meals service will include breakfast, dinner, tea, snacks and beverages for people in respite care in order to:
- provide a quality assured catering service to meet the nutritional and dietary needs of people receiving respite care (all food should meet Care Quality Commission (CQC) Guidelines);
- enable individuals to make healthy choices;
- ensure that individuals receive a service appropriate to their needs;
- support health and wellbeing.
Within this contract, the provider will also deliver a meal service every day for the Grays Fair Court Housing with Care tenants (who choose to purchase meals) Day Service users, any family, friends, Age UK (Norfolk) employees and any other visitors to the scheme.

The contract was awarded for an initial two years, with an option to extend for a further two years, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
The procurement exercise was for services specified in Part B of Schedule 3 of the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 ("Part B services"). Accordingly, the Public Contracts Regulations 2006 (as amended) ("the Regulations”) only applied in part. The procurement exercise was conducted in accordance with the information carried out in the procurement documents.
The Authority has been constrained by the forms used by the Publications Office to describe the procurement procedure as Open. This was a single-stage procurement process, but the authority did not bind itself to conduct the procurement process in accordance with the Open Procedure, as described in the Regulations, nor to abide by any other part of the Regulations which does not expressly apply to procurements for Part B services.
