The MECU stores key Engine parameters up to a maximum of 16 Mb and downloads from it must be of a frequency so that data is not overwritten and maintenance burden is not impacted (currently 16 hours). EHM data is required to be downloaded from the MECU, whilst fitted to Aircraft, the Propulsion Systems Training Rig (PSTR) and the CUE System Calibration Test Set. Post download from the MECU, Engine data is required to be immediately available for viewing by the RAF Tornado first line personnel for the purpose of individual aircraft fault diagnosis. The data is encoded on the MECU in an encrypted compressed data format and is required to be output in a comma separated variable format compatible with current equipment and systems. It is anticipated that the Contract will run for a period of four years with an option to extend for further 12 month periods.
