II.4)Short description of nature and quantity or value of supplies or services:The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (the Council) has an estate of approximately 700 properties across the district. These properties are owned, leased, managed or maintained by the Council. There are a range of property types including but not limited to offices, schools, residential homes, private residences and commercial premises.
To ensure compliance with the HSE Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L8 - The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems; all the Council’s properties at present have completed Legionella risk assessments and a monitoring regime in place to identify, assess and control the sources and risks of Legionella bacteria. These risk assessments must be reviewed at least every 2 years.
The Council is looking to appoint one or more contractors to carry out this service on its behalf and all properties have been split into 5 lots based on their size and the length of time required to carry out the assessments and monitoring. Tenderers are able to apply for one or more lots. The Council may award more than one lot to the same Contractor.
All values and quantities given are indicative only as the Council can not guarantee the levels and quantity of work that will be required in the future due to changes in the Council's property portfolio.
The contract is expected to be for an initial period of 4 months (December - March) and then for 3 full years 1.4.2013 until 31.3.2016 with the option to extend for a further two one year periods subject to the service still being required and the Councils discretion.
