Ofcom requires the establishment of a ‘call-off’ Contract with 1 Tenderer for the provision of translation and transcription services.
The Contract will require the following Services to be provided by the successful Tenderer:
i. The translation and transcription of electronic media into MS Word documents;
ii. The translation and transcription of documents into MS Word documents; and
iii. The attendance, from time to time, of translators at Ofcom's London offices to translate and transcribe electronic media and documents into MS Word documents and to answer questions and provide information in relation to such translation and transcription assignments.
Material to be translated and transcribed will include but not be limited to the following types:
i. Television programmes (including but not limited to the content of television programmes, on-screen text, subtitles and sponsorship credits);
ii. Radio programming;
iii. On demand video content and written material on a website on which on demand content is made available;
iv. Broadcast advertisements; and
v. Supporting documentation that may be submitted as evidence during an investigation which may include handwritten complaint letters or complaint forms.
The successful Tenderer will be required to provide a comprehensive, accurate and timely translation and transcription Services in excellent written English across a wide range of languages. The successful Tenderer must be able to provide comprehensive, accurate and timely translations in at least the languages listed in Table 3, Appendix 4 of the Invitation to Tender document.
Background: Ofcom is the UK's communications regulator. It regulates the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, the airwaves over which wireless devices operate and on demand programme services.
